I'm back from Canada. Have a 1956 Bel Air. I saw one like this on the way to work, but I was driving, so no potatocam shots.
Also, the one from the morning commute needs some work on the brakes, since he almost booted the back of my Mini.

probably stock non-powered drum brakes.
That's about standard...ask my how I know lol

with a little elbow grease you can turn that 56 2dr sedan into this :
this was a 150 series car but has been modified a little. its my grandfathers custom.

Because no one bothered with stopping in the 1950s. It wasn't like you were going very fast either (A 265 powered Bel Air did 0-60 in a diesel-Mercedes-like 12.9 seconds)

there was also a lot less traffic and people were a lot more chill about where they were going.
The Montego is set up with no-power brakes and 4 drums. I make sure I leave plenty of stopping room. I HAVE had to stomp the brakes before because a kid ran out, thankfully I keep it to 15mph in residential areas, a little screetch but stopped on a dime.

That's actually a good bit quicker than mine, downright zippy.

That's phenomenal!
How have I not seen this before?!

Finally, a pic! A little glittery at this point in its life, but once that paint has some more years on it it'll have the aged look a mile deep. The coffin look on the hood's not really my thing, but it's certainly different.

gonna try and keep it glittery. It's a show car and that's all it's gonna do. This was not built to drive any distance. Still has the stock non power drums on all 4 corners and basically stock suspension just lowered. Not a super big fan of the pancaked hood but it was already done when we got the car.

Glittery also works a lot better in person than in photos, this is true.

I've posted a few pics here and there. In the process of writing a how to for setting up and participating in a indoor car show.

Indoor show pictures always suck. The car look way better outside in the sunshine. Lighting plays havok on paint at the indoor shows.

Apropos of nothing, is that some kind of Terraplane custom back and to the right?

Can't wait.
Damn nice car

the black car is a fiberglass 33 willy's sedan delivery and the red car is a 34 ford Tudor

The black one was what I was curious about, due to odd grill setup. Thanks.
